CMDS 2026 – 15th International Symposium on Continuum Models and Discrete Systems
From 7 to 12 June 2026, Rome will host the 15th edition of the International Symposium on Continuum Models and Discrete Systems (CMDS), one of the most important international meetings dedicated to the modelling and analysis of complex systems through both continuum theories and discrete approaches.
The event will be held at Sapienza University of Rome, bringing together researchers, professors, scientists, and professionals from multiple disciplines, including mechanics, thermodynamics, physics, materials science, and engineering.
Over six days, participants will attend high-level scientific sessions, keynote lectures, thematic workshops, and poster presentations, while benefiting from an intimate and collaborative atmosphere. CMDS conferences are renowned for their interdisciplinary spirit, limited number of participants, and informal environment, which encourage discussion, idea exchange, and the creation of long-lasting scientific collaborations.
Since its first edition in Kielce (Poland) in 1975, the CMDS series has been hosted across Europe, North America, and Asia, with previous editions in Québec, Freudenstadt, Stockholm, Nottingham, Dijon, Paderborn, Varna, Istanbul, Shoresh, Paris, Kolkata, and Salt Lake City. The most recent edition, CMDS14, took place in Paris in June 2023.
